Bonjour,
I am going to present the notion of places and forms of power across the topic of the struggle of feminists. [...] During the History, women have of fight to assert their rights, and it continues. This is why we are going to see what is the place of women in the political life?
We have seen in class, a text named Suffragettes who deals with the fight of women for right to vote in the United Kingdom. The move for women’s suffrage began in 1897 with the National Union of Women’s suffrage founded by Millicent Fawcett. They think that if women have to obey to laws they have the right to contribute to making laws. [...] Better know as the Suffragettes, because they fight for women’s suffrage. They were not prepared to wait and were ready to use violence. They interrupted a great many meetings, burned down churches, vandalised Oxford street, chained themselves to Buckingham Palace, refused to pay their tax, attacked politicians, bombed homes. A lot of women were assaulted and arrested, and when they were in prison they went on hunger strike. But in 1914 when Britain was plunged into World War One, Emmeline Pankhurst instructed the suffragettes to stop their campaign and help the government in war effort.
But today the fight continue with the action of Femen activists known to be fearless and topless.[...] They are focus on issues such as female genital mutilation, forced marriage and the sex industry. United Kingdom has some of the highest levels of female genital mutilation in the west, but nobody talks about because they think it’s too extreme to exist here.
The half a milion of women who were in Washington show the power and the determination of women.
In conclusion, women protested against inequality for centuries but the battle is not ended. Women continue to fight to advance political, economic, personal, and social rights for women.
