Hello Dearest Friends!

Voici donc l'exercice 94 qui est "ordinaire" ... Vous y trouvez le dernier extrait du texte de Bashevis Singer, toujours "facile" ... ( méfiez-vous donc !)
Après les difficultés du 93 consistant à bien choisir les niveaux de langue, je vous ai, cette fois, choisi une autre facette des phrases de Maxwell,( Maxwell!) moins techniques mais toujours difficiles ... Il ne nous fait pas de cadeaux, n’est-ce pas ! (et comme il m’a envoyé tout un « stock » de phrases, vous n’avez pas fini de souffrir !
Vous devrez, en troisième partie, "jouer les professeurs" en « corrigeant » un petit texte. Facile et ludique …
Cet exercice est bien un et la correction sera en ligne le dimanche 20 novembre tard.

1) Il est souvent plus facile de fermer les yeux sur certaines actions que de s’obliger à regarder la vérité en face.

2) Il aurait fait n’importe quoi pour empêcher que son secret soit révélé. Je lui ai assuré que je le soutiendrais et qu’il faudrait me marcher sur le corps pour que je parle …

3) Tu ne demandes presque jamais d'explications, mais tu as tort ! Tu le devrais et tu aurais beaucoup moins de mal à faire tes devoirs ensuite. Ce qui t’arrive maintenant, tu l’as bien cherché !

Maxwell 4) Tu ne peux pas tout avoir : le beurre, l'argent du beurre et le sourire de la crémière. Soit tu embauches un crack dans ce domaine au prix fort, soit tu te contentes de quelqu'un d'un peu moins expérimenté, mais avec un très bon relationnel et des prétentions salariales moindres.

Patrick said me he could very well speak english and whereas I believed her, he din’t opened the mouth while the all trip. Have I known how he is timid, I won’t have ask he to accompany me here. I was realizing it’s the first time he was hearing speaking english, and so, I asked her friend Paul speaking for him and explaining him which is happening round they. I hope who helped by Patrick, Paul will do many progress and will became good in english.

You hardly ever ask for explanations but you're wrong ! You should do that and then you would find it easier to do your homework. What's happening to you now, you've had this coming !

4) Tu ne peux pas tout avoir : le beurre, l'argent du beurre et le sourire de la crémière. Soit tu embauches un crack dans ce domaine au prix fort, soit tu te contentes de quelqu'un d'un peu moins expérimenté, mais avec un très bon relationnel et des prétentions salariales moindres.
You can't have everything : you can't have (*) your cake and eat it. Either you pay a high price to take on an expert in this field, or you make do with someone a little less experienced, but with great interpersonal skills and lower salary expectations. 2) Il aurait fait n’importe quoi pour empêcher que son secret soit révélé. Je lui ai assuré que je le soutiendrais et qu’il faudrait me marcher sur le corps pour que je parle …

3) Tu ne demandes presque jamais d'explications, mais tu as tort ! Tu le devrais et tu aurais beaucoup moins de mal à faire tes devoirs ensuite. Ce qui t’arrive maintenant, tu l’as bien cherché !

Hello, Dear All !

Cet exercice 94 semblait assez facile : la version était assez simple, en effet, (à part, encore une fois la difficulté de se déterminer entre passé simple et imparfait). Il y eut quelques maladresses, mais pas de « grosses fautes ». Je n’ai donc pas « expliqué » le corrigé ; en revanche, j’ai évoqué de nombreux points qui ont posé problèmes dans l’exercice de correction III, sur lequel, m’avez-vous dit, certains d’entre vous ont passé beaucoup de temps… (Sorry!)Je crois que ce type d’exercice est bon pour vous (il vous oblige à questionner des « certitudes » et à lire avec un œil "critique" mais pas trop !)
Merci, en tout cas de tout votre travail, du temps consacré et d’avoir fait chauffer vos cerveaux aussi fort ! Bravo à tous. Merci aussi de vos gentils mots, messages et images !

- fermer les yeux sur …: = close your eyes to/ look the other way to/ turn a blind eye to/ condone stg/ overlook stg/ shut your eyes on/ turn a blind eye on/ wink at.
- s’obliger à : to force oneself to do something/ to make yourself do stg/

- Presque jamais = « hardly ever » qui est “semi-négatif” ne SUPPORTE bien sûr pas d’être associé à une négation. Moins fréquents : almost never/ scarcely ever/ seldom if ever/
- Expliquer à = to explain TO somebody- An explanation –
- it would be much less difficult for you to do; ”difficulty” est "uncountable" => “much difficulty to“ = being difficult ; ici, vous pouviez également employer “difficulties” au sens “d’ennuis, de déboires” => "fewer difficulties". Attention à ne pas mélanger le singulier et le pluriel dans les quantificateurs.
- tes devoirs = your homework/ assignment= pluriel collectif.
- ensuite= afterwards/ then (mais pas « after » qui est suivi d’un nom ou d’un verbe. )
- tu l’as bien cherché ! = You get what you deserve/ You asked for it!/ To bring stg on = causer, provoquer => “you’ve brought it on yourself” = tu l’as bien cherché.

I was realizing it’s the first time he was hearing speaking english, and so, I asked her friend Paul speaking for him and explaining him which is happening round they. I hope who helped by Patrick, Paul will do many progress and will became good in english.

Patrick had told me he could speak English very well and although I believed him, he didn’t open his mouth during the whole trip. Had I known how timid he was, I wouldn’t have asked him to accompany me there. I realized it was the first time he had heard English spoken, and therefore, I asked his friend Paul to speak to him and explain to him what was happening around them.
