Bonjour,
Emilie
Le devoir:
Who is he ?
Sadiq Kahn was born on 8 October 1970, in Tooting. He is a British politician, a member of Labour Party, a lawyer and Mayor of London since May 2016. He is seen as a social democrat.
His origins :
Sadiq Kahn comes from a modest and British Pakistani family of the working class. Indeed, in 1947 his grandparents leave Pakistan after the partition of India, and then it was his parents who left India in the 60s to go to London.
His father’s name was Amanullah and he was a bus driver and his mother, Sehrun was a seamstress.
His religion :
Sadiq Khan his Muslim, probably because his family is from Pakistan, a country where 95% of the population is muslim
Why is he popular in England ?
He basically represents hope for all. His hard work allowed him to fulfill his goals despite his poor condition.People tend to like him because they can identify themselves to his career. Also the fact that he is muslim is a strong message to the world that muslims are just like others and can run countries without triggering fear but I think this doesn't have to be THAT important, must of all he is an English citizen.
People’s reactions?
According to my research, during the elections there were many controversy more especially about the problem of islamophobia. But many famous people in the world congratulated the new mayor of London and say that it’s a veritable social progress.
We can read for example in a German news paper : “The mayoral election shows that London is more liberal, clever and tolerant than the Conservative mudslingers would like to think”
And in a the Qatari daily : “Once again, the British capital enters history, this time through the gate of democratic victory by electing a Muslim of immigrant descent as its mayor.”.
There are lot of examples who show that there are many country who reacted to this election.

Hello !
But many famous people in the world congratulated the new mayor of London and say that it’s a veritable social progress. "
Bonsoir ! :p
