Oral/Myths and Heroes
Message de adelie0 posté le 03-04-2016 à 19:36:52 (S | E | F)
Bonjour,
Je suis en Terminale S et voici ma synthèse d'anglais pour la notion mythes et héros. Je voulais savoir si elle ne vous semble pas trop longue et si elle répond bien à la problématique Et pourriez vous me corriger les fautes aussi s'il vous plait?
Merci d'avance.

I am going to talk about the notion of «myth and hero».
So, by definition, a hero is a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. It can be the main character in a book or a film or a superhuman qualtites. It can also be a modern hero, a person who has performed a heroic act or simply our own personal hero, our role model. Modern heroes they share the same struggles as their elders?

We studied an image which represents the situation of black people in USA. At the beginning of the left page, it shows slavery underneath that the segregationand and the KKK. On the right page, the is an improvement and we can see all the effort they done to change it. Finally we can see the happiness of Barack Obama.
So we can quote two famous people who have play a rôle for the segregation's end in the USA : Rosa Parks and Barack Obama.

In 1955, a woman named Rosa Parks decided it was time to change all that.
One day she got the bus and she sat in a seat for black people. A white man wanted Rosa's seat, but she refused and she was arrested. After this black people stopped taking the buses for more the one year.
Finally in 1956, the Supreme Court decided that segregated buses were illegal.
The cartoon of a little black girl seated at the front of a bus shows the evolution since what happened to Rosa Parksbecause they didn't have to sit in the back of the bus anymore.

In the 21th century, the segregation was abolished and the election of Barack Obama was a great victory. In the time, there was a lot of racism in the USA, nevertheless Obama succeed to become the 44th president in 2009. He is the first African American president to be elected in the USA. In the same years he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. His election is a symbol of white black equality in usa after the period of segregation.

Before Rosa Parks have fought for the liberty and equality and now her fight ends with the election of a black president showing that the segregation is realy happened.

In the 19th century, it was commonly agreed that women were inferior to men and thus unable to take important decisions. So she can't vote. Today some inequality between men and women persist even in developed country. For exemple women and men don't have an equal pay or equal education's right.
We will speack about two importants personnality involved in the feminism movement : Emmeline Pankhurst and the creation of the movement WSPU and Malala.

By the end of the 18th century, in the United Kingdom, a movement was funded. The Suffragettes were women who wanted to fight for their rights. Their goal was that women would be given a better education and would be granted the right to vote.
In 1903 Emmeline Pankhurst founded the Women's Social and Political Union WSPU, whose slogan became "deeds not words." In her work for the group, she gave speeches that encouraged militant action. Between 1908 and 1914, Pankhurst was imprisoned 13 times because she organizes many often violent demonstration. During the First World War, women had to do men’s jobs. Finally the right to vote is granted to women over 30 years in 1918 and ten years later women over 21 could vote.
Emmeline Pankhurst is a feminin icon because she is considered like a crucial person to obtain the right to vote for women.

Malala is a young girl to 18 years. She lived in Pakistan, in a region where talibans forbid the school to girls. She marked her 16th birthday by delivering a speech at the United Nations to speak up of her campaign for girl's right and above all the right of education of every children. During that she denouced taliban's violence who burnt girl's school and killed their opposants. In 2012 they tried to kill her to silence but they failed. She becomes a symbol for girls education and against talibans.
By fighting for the education for every children, Malala tries to ensure liberty of each of them.
She is an exemple that everybody must follow : she is an icon of bravery, of feminist fight and education's rignt.

To conclude, some fight achieved their goal but other are still relevant. The personnalities who have fought, for our rights that now we use everyday, are example for the society and we owe them a debt of gratitude. These personnalities may be considered as heroes even though they were often despised at their times but now they are admired. The fight of yesterday is not the same that tomorrow's fight but it's the continuity.
