Correction/différence
Message de menthalo posté le 11-11-2015 à 00:30:31 (S | E | F)
Bonsoir,
Je viens de traduire un texte scientifique en anglais. J’aimerais bien qu’on me corrige les fautes que j’ai pu commettre. Comme il est assez long , je vais le diviser en deux. Merci pour votre aide.

Fear of difference
Fear of difference, going sometimes to refusal, is a very widespread reflex. Children are frightened to be distinguished from others. Teenagers are the first to follow fashions. But, far more serious, adults don’t trust almost instinctively from all those who don’t belong to the community, leading to rivalries between neighbours living in the same floor, discussions between administrations, discords between nations, religious or racial hatred.
And yet, this reflex is both a biological piece of nonsense and culturally a fundamental mistake.
Biologically, three notions will help the understanding:
Firstly, each living being is different; he is even unique, since there are a lot of possible variations in his chemical composition. It’s the product of paternal and maternal characters mixture. In every generation appear then, fruits of the genetic lottery, new beings, unique because they are formed by a completely new combination of genetic characters. Nature has taken great care to ensure that this mixture reproduces itself at regular intervals: sex and death repeat it in every generation.
Then according to natural selection, the individuals who have received accidently the combinations that make them the most capable to live in a certain environment, survive and have more descendants, whereas the less capable have less.

Hello !

blue = wrong
green = suggestion
xxxxxx= clumsy
XXXX = missing elements.

XXX Fear of difference(fear is determined by 'of'.)
XXX Fear of difference, going= voc. sometimes to refusal, is a very widespread reflex. Children are frightened to be distinguished from others. Teenagers are the first XXXX to follow fashions. But, far more serious, adults don’t trust almost instinctively from all those who don’t belong to the communitywhich one, leading to rivalries between neighbours living in the same floor, discussions between administrations, discords between nations, religious or racial hatred.
And yet, this reflex is both a biological piece of nonsense and culturally (XXXXXXXX) a fundamental mistake.
Biologically, three notions will help the understanding of what?!:think both about the use of 'the' and about the sudden stop...):
Firstly, each living (living, or human?) being is different; he or she is even unique, since there are a lot of possible variations in his XX XXX chemical composition. It’s the product of paternal and maternal characters mixture.(= construction.) In every generation appear then, fruits of the genetic lottery, new beings, unique (word order - construction)because they are formed by a completely new combination of genetic characters. Nature has taken great care to ensure that this mixture reproduces itself at regular intervals: sex and death (what do you mean?) repeat it in every generation.
Then according to natural selection, the individuals who have received accidently= word order the combinations that make them the most capable to live in a certain environment, survive and have more descendants, whereas the less capable have less.

The fear of difference.
Bonjour
Merci Here4U . J'ai corrigé mes fautes en bleu. J'espère avoir bien corrigé....

The fear of difference, resulting at times in total refusal of this difference, is a very widespread reflex. Children fear being different from the others. Teenagers are the first ones to follow fashions. But, far more serious, adults don’t trust almost instinctively from all those who don’t belong to their community that leads to rivalries between neighbours living on the same floor, discussions between administrations, discords between nations, religious or racial hatred.
And yet, this reflex is both a biological piece of nonsense and culturally speaking is a fundamental mistake.
Biologically, three notions will help us to understand why.
Firstly, each human being is different; he or she is even unique, since many variations are possible in his chemical composition. It’s the product of the mixture of paternal and maternal characters. In every generation, owing to the genetic lottery appear new and unique beings because they are formed by a completely new combination of genetic characters. Nature has taken great care to ensure a reproduction of this mixture itself at regular intervals: sex and death repeat it in every generation. (La nature a bien pris soin d'assurer que ce mélange se reproduise à intervalle régulier : le sexe et la mort le répètent à chaque génération .)
Then according to the Darwinian process of natural selection, the individuals who have accidently received the combinations that make them the most capable to live in a certain environment, survive and have more descendants, whereas the least capable have fewer.

Hello,

Teenagers are the first ones to follow fashions. But, far more serious (je mettrais un adverbe), adults don’t trust almost instinctively from all those who don’t belong to their community(ici, il faudrait une virgule et remplacer that(que)par which(, ce qui) that leads to rivalries between neighbours living on the same floor, discussions between administrations, discords between nations, religious or racial hatred.
And yet, this reflex is both a biological piece of nonsense and culturally speaking is a fundamental mistake.

(J'aurais mis: He or she)It’s the product of the mixture of paternal and maternal characters. In every generation, owing to the genetic lottery appear(je mettrais ce verbe après le sujet beings) new and unique beings because they are formed by a completely new combination of genetic characters. Nature has taken great care to ensure a reproduction of this mixture itself at regular intervals: sex and death repeat it in every generation. Hi gerondif, thank you very much for your help. I did a second correction of my translation considering your suggestions. So,I have written the new words in italic. I hope I did well.

The fear of difference, resulting at times in total refusal of this difference, is a very widespread reflex. Children fear being different from the others. Teenagers are the first ones to follow fashions. But what is much more serious ( mais bien plus grave) is that adults don’t trust almost instinctively from all those who don’t belong to their community, which leads to rivalries between neighbours living on the same floor, discussions between administrations, discords between nations, religious or racial hatred.
And yet, this reflex is both a biological piece of nonsense and culturally speaking is a fundamental mistake.

Hello menthalo! Hello gerondif!

I hadn't given up on you ... but was really extremely busy... Your translation is sometimes quite clumsy, but has no more mistakes. you can now post the second part...
NB: when you copy, all the colours, italics etc. disappear ...

And yet, this reflex is both a biological piece of nonsense and culturally speaking (is- do not repeat the verb since "both" introduces the 2 different aspects) a fundamental mistake.
Biologically, three notions will help us to understand why.
Firstly, each human being is different; He or she is even unique, since many variations are possible in his chemical composition. It’s the product of the mixture of paternal and maternal characters. In every generation, owing to the genetic lottery, new and unique beings appear because they are formed by a completely new combination of genetic characters. Nature has taken great care to ensure a reproduction of this mixture (combination?) itself at regular intervals: sex and death(doesn't mean anything to me, when I read that, without - and even with - your explanations!) repeat it in every generation. (La nature a bien pris soin d'assurer que ce mélange se reproduise à intervalle régulier : le sexe (? do your mean "procreation"? "births"? ) et la mort le répètent à chaque génération.)
Then according to the Darwinian process of natural selection, the individuals who have accidently received the combinations that make them the most capable to live in a certain environment, survive and have more descendants, whereas the least capable have fewer.
