Want him to do /help
Message from kimort posted on 02-10-2014 at 05:36:07 (D | E | F)
Hello,
May I say: I want my cat to eat? or
I want my car to work?
In another way may I say: I want my cat eat?
Thanks
Kimort

Hello,
You want SOMEONE TO DO something
You can GET something DONE (past participle). For example: I got my car fixed.
You can GET someone TO DO something. For instance: I got David to fix my car.
You can MAKE someone DO something. Our teacher made us listen carefully.

Thank you.
Can "someone" be an animal or an object?
I know that this sentence is ok: I want Steeve to eat.
But what about this one : I want my cat to eat.
Thanks again
Kimort

Hello,

Someone refers to a person, not to an animal or a thing, unless you hear someone knock at the door and you realise your dog did it

I want my cat to eat...ok, it is correct.
