First time / present perfect

Hello ,
I just have a quick question, if I may.
I 've read here and there that the " it is the first time + present perfect" phrase could be translated to a present tense in French.
For instance:
"It is the first time I've driven a car." -->C'est la première fois que je conduis une voiture. am I right?
Does this expression imply that I am still driving at this precise moment?
Forgive me if the question has already been asked several times before but I could't find a suitable thread for this particular issue.
Cheers,
Pascal

Hello,
I would use "this" instead of "it". Otherwise your sentence is correct. Taken literally, it does mean you are driving at the moment; however, one can use it just before taking the wheel (for the first time ).
See you.
