Hello
I wonder if I should use "He's afraid me to knock him down" or "He's afraid I knock him down".
Which is the correct one ?
What I want to say in French is "Il a peur que je le cogne".
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
J'emploierais scared plutôt que afraid.
He is scared I could hit him
.....................strike him
.....................give him a blow
and so on.

Hello!
I would say:
He's afraid I'll knock him down."
The word "afraid" here really has the meaning of "to be worried."
He's worried that I'll knock him down"
"Scared" could be used, as well...but it doesn't sound "right."
For me, scared needs either a noun or a verb to follow it.
I'm scared of cats.
I'm scared of heights.
I'm scared to go/afraid of going to the doctor.
Hope this helps.

Thank you all !
If I have understood what you said, I cannot use the present simple but I must use "could" or "will" before using the verb.
As a result, I should say "He's afraid/scared I could knock him down" or "He's scared/afraid I will knock him down."
