Hello,

generally active voice is used when the sentence is in affirmative form. However the passive voice is used when you want to do a sentence beginning with the complement; in this case you will notice that the subject of your sentence will undergo the action .

Hello sky64
When we use the active voice, we say what the subject does.Example : the cat ate a mouse. The subject is the cat.
When we use the passive voice we say what happens to the subject : The mouse was eaten (by the cat )The subject is the mouse.
Who or what causes the action is often unknown or not essential. We could say : the mouse was eaten.
If we want to say who does the action we add by.
Have a nice day.

Hi

The subject is not always mentioned in passive sentences , for example
The food is eaten, means somebody eats the food,
But, in the active sentences the subject is mentioned.
I go to high school every day for example.
