Hello

5 Did it cost much to repair the car? Selon moi, cette phrase est juste.

I don't know about the others, there are just too much many words in that exercise. Plus, I have a short attention span and get bored easily.

Bonjour,

je vous remercie, voici les seuls points que j'ai modifiés en fonction de vos trois réponses respectives:

Exercise 1:

5 Did it cost much to repair the car? ...................
My answer: RIGHT.

Exercise 2:

5 It's an interesting town to visit. There ...........
My answer: It's an interesting town to visit. There are plenty of things to see.

6 I'm sure we'll find somewhere to stay. ................
My answer: I'm sure we'll find plenty of hotels to stay.

Cordialement.

Bonnes fêtes à tous!

Hello again

6 I'm sure we'll find somewhere to stay. ................
My answer: I'm sure we'll find plenty of hotels to stay.

You can't say "plenty of hotels to stay". You either have to say "plenty of hotels" or "plenty of hotels to stay in" or "plenty of hotels in which to stay".

Réponse: Vérification/ exercices de bernard02, postée le 28-12-2012 à 05:56:49 (S | E)
OK, but according to the exercise, we have to keep the phrase " I'm sure we'll find somewhere to stay" and we have just to complete the sentence, thus???

Regards.

Réponse: Vérification/ exercices de notrepere, postée le 28-12-2012 à 06:50:28 (S | E)
Hello, yes, I know, that's a bit of a problem. Stay is not an action verb, so you can't "stay a hotel". You can "wash" it, or "damage" it. But you can only "stay in/at" it.

However, I think "somewhere to stay" can be treated as a single thought and it can be replaced by "plenty of hotels". I have been known to be wrong, though.

Hello,

6 I'm sure we'll find somewhere to stay. ................

I can see a full stop after the word stay. That means you can complete with another sentence such as
There are plenty of hotels.
What do you think?
