Carl dreams of becoming a baseball star because his father is a poor bricklayer and temporarily jobless. It is difficult for them to have money. He not want be like that in the future. Also, he likes baseball and he thinks that in America, there is opportunity to become that you want.
His father think that a bad idea: it is difficult to integrate a fame club and even if he is accepted, his father thinks that his son is too weak, fragile compare to the others.
Relationship between Carl and his father is strained. Indeed, they are in disagree.
About Carl's future, I can imagine that if he is successfull, his father will be proud of him nevertheless he is fails, that will be a hard shock for him.

"to integrate a famous club"...'integrate' is not the verb that would normally be used here.
"successfull" - check the spelling here (as already indicated)
