Hello,
Should we use/write practise or practice please ?
(general question .. us/uk .. name/verb)
Both are in my dictionary, but I'm not sure to understand the difference.
It seems US uses only practise .. and UK uses both,
practise in US is really like practice in UK,
... is it correct ?
Is there any real difference ?
Thanks in advance,
Séb

Hello,
Here's a link, with a little exercise : Lien internet
In UK, "practice" is the noun and "practise" the verb.
In the U.S.A. "practice" is

Thanks komiks,
little better but still not really clear.
at least clear that practice is more used in the USA.
My dictionary (an old Robert & Collins) says practice is a noun with 4 meanings or a compound without saying where, but indicates it in the USA also as a transitive and intransitive verb.
About practise, (says it corresponds to practice in the USA) seems to be a transitive verb with 2 meanings and an intransitive with 2 other meanings ...
I will try to remember practice, except for the English verb.

Hi everyone.
Lucile83.
I really didn't understand the meaning of this phrase, and I will be grateful if you could help.
I will try to remember practice, except for the English verb.
If "practice" is used as a noum, I think it has to have an article before "the pratice", and if it is used as a verb, I think it has to be in a gerund form "practising, or "how to practice".
I'm considering the British spelling.
Thank you all very much and have a nice day,

Hello nveras
I will try to remember practice, except for the English verb.
=
I will try to remember that the spelling of that word is 'practice' with a 'c', except for the English verb which is spelt 'practise' with an 's'.
It was clear to me...maybe thanks to the students I used to try to understand

Hello lucile83.
Now it's clear. Maybe I'm not used to the language spoken by young people.
