Bonjour,
lola .

Hello
I'll bet you've never heard of the verb 'bet'.
I've personally never heard 'betted', but it seems to exist.
He bet his friend $10 that he couldn't win the trophy.
'betted' would sound almost as bad as 'gotten' in British English.md

Hello.
I'm with notrepere...I have never actually heard anyone say betted. The list of verbs that are invariable from present to past is fairly short, but most of them end in t, and a few end in d. Here's a link to the list. Lien internet

Hello to all,
Maybe, ' betted' exists somewhere....whereas I myself never used or heard or saw it like that.
Honestly speaking, you will not find that form in any proper English teaching book for beginners or Upper Forms in a high school .
To bet, bet , bet is taught as being a British irregular verb .
And students at University use it in the same way.
...........?? Always surprised with certain links...

Hello dear violet,
Anyway we can find it here, in Oxford dictionaries

Betted exists, and maybe it is never used. I don't use it...but we have to know it, as 'peu me chaut' in French which, I suppose, is not used anymore.
I am glad this verb 'to bet' is well-known now thanks to this site and this topic
Also, it is an irregular verb for sure, no matter the form 'betted' does exist since we can say 'to bet/bet/bet'.
The case of to burn/burnt/burnt is similar as we can use to burn/burned/burned.
