Another Style/Simple Future
Message from t1k21971 posted on 15-04-2012 at 19:18:02 (D | E | F)
Hello,

In my first test, I have a question for "simple future" that I think the "He is going to read a book" is the other style in simple future for "He will read a book".
Would you please agree tell me?
Thanks a lot!
Tom

Hello,

there are various ways of expressing a future:

the simple future is: I will read a book tomorrow. This tense is called "the simple future" and that's it.

The near future is: I am going to read a book after dinner: You state a project. It will be relatively soon and you intend to do it.

The present continuous can also indicate something that has been planned and decided:
I am buying a new car next week.

Thanks a lot.
I feel the near future is similar with "le futur proche" in French.
For example: Je vais lire le livre.= I am going to read a book.
This is interesting!I get it!
