Bonsoir,
Pouvez-vous m'aider à corriger s'il vous plaît car je dois répondre à cette question en anglais. Il s'agit d'une question qui concerne la scène 1 de l'acte 1 de Songe d'une Nuit d'été de William Shakespeare.
How does this scene reveal the plot of the play and announce the main conflicts which will have to be solved ?
In this firt scene, we have the main themes present in the Shakespeare's play.
First, there is the struggle of men to dominate women. It's the war of the sexes. After, there is the conflict between father (Theseus) and daughter (Hermia). Indeed Hermia is refusing to marry Demetrius which is her father's requet. She loves Lysander, who loves her back.
There is in this scene a hotchpotch. It will continue all the play. Another characters will appear. For example, there is Helena. She's worrying because she loves Demetrius, who left her for Hermia. The hotchpotch continue. There are two places in this play: Theseus's palace and the wood. The forest therefore quickly emerges as the location where all of these struggles must be resolved. This scene present the plot of the play and announce the main conflicts.
C'est pauvre mais je n'ai pas d'autres idées malheureusement.
Merci

Bonsoir,
je n'ai pas le temps de relire l'act 1..... mais pour votre texte....
How does this scene reveal the plot of the play and announce the main conflicts which will have to be solved ?
In this first scene, we have the main themes present in
First, there is the struggle of men to dominate women. It's the war of the sexes. After(jamais tout seul ! after that), there is the conflict between father (Theseus) and daughter (Hermia). Indeed Hermia is refusing to marry Demetrius which is her father's requet. She loves Lysander, who loves her back.
There is in this scene a hotchpotch (ce mot me semble incongru mais bon). It will continue all through the play. Another characters (other oui, another, non, car c'est UN autre) will appear. For example, there is Helena. She's worrying(elle est inquiétante ou inquiète?) because she loves Demetrius, who left her for Hermia. The hotchpotch continue(*present 3ème personne un s s'impose). There are two places in this play: Theseus's palace and the wood. The forest therefore quickly emerges as the location where all of these struggles must be resolved. This scene present(*idem) the plot of the play and announce(* idem) the main conflicts.
