Bonjour,
Quelle serait la meilleure expression pour traduire 'passer chez quelqu'un; passer au magasin,....' dans le sens d'avoir l'opportunité.
Pour traduire : j'aurai l'occasion de passer au bureau jeudi prochain
I will have the opportunity to call on in the office next Thursday.
Est-ce correct d'utiliser l'expression 'call on' ?

un double clic sur passer donne:
(faire un saut) je ne fais que ~ I've just popped in GB ou dropped by for a minute;
quand je suis passé au marché: when I went down to the market;
il est passé déposer un dossier: he came to drop off a file;
~ dans la matinée: to call in the morning GB, to come over in the morning;
passe nous voir plus souvent! come and see us more often!;
autre piste: to pop over
double click: to pop round, to pop over GB : passer.
I will have the opportunity to pop over at/ to drop by at/ to go to/ to come to/ the office./ to call at the office ("on" ne me semble pas indispensable)
le présent en ing a cette nuance:
I am going to the office on Thursday (next Thursday) incidentally (au fait, à propos) and I'll see you then, I'll deal with the problem then.
"I am due at the office next Thursday" est plus rigide.
autre chose:
I'll pay you a visit on my way to the factory.je passerai vous voir sur le chemin de l'usine.

I have always heard :
passe faire un tour = Just drop in !
if you are close to that shop , drop in( get in .. ) and have a look at ....
if you are around : come to visit us ; just drop in ...
in a conversation maybe that there are less risk of confusion than : call on

peut-être que: maybe tout court, pas de that
Pour les puristes:
moins de : less + nom singulier
moins de : fewer + nom pluriel
mais ce n'est pas toujours respecté:
Maybe he has fewer friends because he has less money nowadays.

Dans vos explications je trouve l'expression "to drop by at"
Cela me semble bizarre; je suppose qu'il s'agit de 'to drop by' ou 'to drop at' ?

at: on y est I am at school
to: on y va I am going to the office
to drop: lâcher, tomber au sol verticalement, donc pas de mouvement , donc at
(mais je trouve: he dropped to third place, il est retombé en 3ème place où là il y aurait mouvement)mais bon....
by fait partie du verbe et n'est pas une préposition:
I dropped by at your place, I arrived by surprise at your place, I showed up at your place (mouvement inverse, je sors du sol en quelque sorte)
by en préposition signifie près de et alors là , vous auriez raison, donc il y a de l'espoir avec votre niveau d'anglais !!!

Drop me by the station ! lâche moi près de la gare ! (préposition)
Drop me at the station ! lâche moi à la gare ! (préposition)

I'll drop by the office next Thursday.
Your use of "call on" is incorrect.
