Hello,
Maybe you were thinking of "cheeseparing"? this is the fact of being too careful either when giving or when spending money. So when it's about economies, French people would say "des économies de bouts de chandelles" and if it's about people then they'd say "pingre"/"mesquin".
Does it help?
Bye!

Hi,
Interesting cheeseparing, I didn't now that one. But I am looking for "cheese pairings" which is the act of choosing cheeses that go well together for a tasting.
There must be a specific french term for that.
Thanks

Hello,
I thought you might have confused words, but here it's simply the act of "pairing cheese". I'm not quite sure the word is appropriate but in any case it's not wrong : "association de fromages/fromagère"
Hope that's better now.

Pourquoi pas appariement de(s) fromage(s)

"Cheese pairing" : I don't know
But "cheeseparing" could be:
- a paring of cheese rind...
- or something of little or no value
- or stinginess (avarice)

Hi,
The term "cheese pairings" is from the ACS (American Cheese Society,USA). Used just like that in a description of services they offer. I guess they use it that way in the cheese business.
Thank you for your help.

Hello,
"Appariement de fromages" est intéressant et je crois dans l'esprit de l'original.

I believe the term relates to choosing the appropriate wine for a specific type of cheese. For example, dessert wine with camembert?

Hi,
Yes, it is kind of that, but I guess it can also be choosing cheeses that go well together for a tasting (of cheeses, usually from the light cheeses to the more "corsé". So it's pairing the cheeses, or:
-Cheese Pairings
-Cheese tips
-Recipes
-etc...
It is not used in a sentence. It's in a list of advantages that this association offers.
I saw "harmonisation" used with cheese, wine and beer.
"Appariement de fromages" for only cheese.
I wonder if it's the right term in the cheese industry.
Thank you

Hello,
