hello,
would you tell me please if the use of the past is correct with "for+period"
example: she stayed abroad for 2 years
OR : she has stayed abroad for 2 years
OR : she had stayed abroad for 2 years
would you explain me the correct form please
thank you

Hello,
I'd say that when time is important, you have to use the simple past.
So I go with : "She stayed abroad for two years".

Depending on the context you might be able to use several different past tenses, however the rule with for (as opposed to since) is that you must use a duration of time with for (eg. for 5 years) where you must use a specific date with since (since 1942, since May, since last spring).
Try and do a site search for for / since and practice – practice makes perfect.
Enjoy!
