Good evening
My English teacher told me that we do not use " When + past continuous". We have to use "While".
For example : He broke his leg when he was skiing.
What do you think about it ?
Thank you for your advice,
Babeth

Hello,
when = quand
while = pendant que ( 2 actions simultanées)
He broke his leg while he was skiing.
Your teacher's right!
Best wishes.

Hello!
that's true we use when + simple past and while + past continuous because when is always followed by a short action and while by a long one.
e.g:while I was watching TV the telephone rang
I hope this explanation is useful for
Good luck
