To be going to go?
Message from juliak posted on 26-01-2010 at 17:41:49

Hello everybody! Please help me.
When we have something planned or arranged we say: I'm going to come, i'm going to invite, etc.

Can I say "I'm going to GO to the party"? If not, which is the best way to express it "I'm going to the party", "I will go to the party"???

Does the saying "i'm going to go.." sound good?

Thanks!

" I am going to the party " would be the best way.

"I am going to go" is fine. (Or, in a more familiar fashion: "I'm gonna go.")

Hello,

Either way is fine, that depends on the situation or on the question put:

Where are you going to go? I'm going to go to the party (for a near future)

Where are you going? I'm going to the party ( you're on your way)

you can also say " I will go to the party " ( the arrangement for tomorrow or sometimes later, perhaps).

Have fun

May

Hi,
Quite often we just leave out 'to go' to avoid repetition of the same verb but they mean exactly the same.
I'm going to (go to) the party.
With other verbs there's no problem. e.g. I'm going to see her.
Of course the use of 'going to' for intentions and the present continuous for future plans is another question.....
Best Wishes

Hi
If you are sure that you want to go to the party, you should say:
I'm going to go to the party.
