Find the missing vowels and unscramble the consonants in order to get the right word.

The number of vowels is given in 9 out of 10 answers.

1- To press, squeeze or crush. ..... (h q s s) 2

2- (Of snakes, geese, people etc) to make a sound like that the letter S, for instance, to show anger or displeasure. ..... (s h s) 1

3- To beat with blow after blow. ..... (t t b r) 2

4- To move about stealthily in order to steal, attack, catch etc. ..... (w p r l) 1

5- A mark made by pressing the thumb on to a surface, sometimes used as means of indentification. ..... (p h t t n r m)

6- To (cause to) grow worse. ..... (s w n r) 2

7- To spoil or damage (enjoyment, beauty etc). ..... (r m) 1

8- The soft substance in the hollow parts of bones. ..... (r r m w) 2

Here is my try :

1- To press, squeeze or crush. .... SQUASH

2- (Of snakes, geese, people etc) to make a sound like that the letter S, for instance, to show anger or displeasure. .... HISS

3- To beat with blow after blow. .... BATTER

4- To move about stealthily in order to steal, attack, catch etc. .... PROWL

5- A mark made by pressing the thumb on to a surface, sometimes used as means of indentification. .... peut-être THUMBPRINT, mais là, le B est en trop ?

6- To (cause to) grow worse. .... WORSEN

7- To spoil or damage (enjoyment, beauty etc). ..... MAR

8- The soft substance in the hollow parts of bones. ... MARROW

9- To fill very full. .... CRAM

10- A type of small, cone-shaped of shellfish that fastens itself very firmly to rocks. .... LIMPET

Hi everybody!

Here is my work:
1- To press, squeeze or crush. (h q s s) 2 squash = écraser, aplatir.
2- (Of snakes, geese, people etc) to make a sound like that the letter S, for instance, to show anger or displeasure. (s h s) 1 hiss = siffler, feuler, cracher (chat), râler, pester.
3- To beat with blow after blow. (t t b r) 2 batter = battre, défoncer.
4- To move about stealthily in order to steal, attack, catch etc. (w p r l) 1 prowl = traquer, rôder.
5- A mark made by pressing the thumb on to a surface, sometimes used as means of indentification. (p h t t n r m) thumbprint = empreinte du pouce, mais il manquerait le b ???
6- To (cause to) grow worse. (s w n r) 2 worsen = empirer.
7- To spoil or damage (enjoyment, beauty etc). (r m) 1 mar = gâter, gâcher.
8- The soft substance in the hollow parts of bones. (r r m w) 2 marrow = moelle.
9- To fill very full. (m c r) 1 cram = entasser, bourrer.
10- A type of small, cone-shaped of shellfish that fastens itself very firmly to rocks. (p t l m) 2 limpet = bernicle, bernique, patelle, lampotte, chapeau chinois.
