Bonjour,
j'ai une question concernant une phrase de thème grammatical :
" Hilary Clinton est devenue la première dame des Etats-Unis en 1993, il y a vingt-trois ans. "
Pour la traduction je propose:
" There are twenty-three years ago, in 1993, Hilary Clinton became the First Lady of the United States. "
Est-ce correct ?

Hélas non ! Ce n'est pas bon ...
Il faut bien utiliser for/ since/ ago pour exprimer une durée ("il y a " en français), mais il ne fut pas combiner "there is are" et "for/ since ou ago" ...

Ah ok donc la phrase correct c'est :
" Twenty-three years ago, in 1993, Hilary Clinton became the First Lady of the United States. "
. Par contre ce n'est pas possible de dire :
" There are twenty-three years, in 1993, Hilary Clinton became the First Lady of the United States. " parce que que quand il s'agit de traduire un ''il y a'' qui renvoit à une notion de durée dans le temps ce n'est jamais "there is/ are" mais toujours "ago" ?

j'ai une question concernant l'utilisation du mot "nationalité". En anglais pour dire "la nationalité" dans une phrase on dit "the nationality" ou "nationality" (sans "the" comme pour les grands concepts comme "slavery") ?

Si on met the, c'est que c'est précisé .
